Phnom Penh: Phnom Pen court on Tuesday decided to sentence a Vietnamese spouse four years in Prey Sor prison for committing illegal drug trafficking in Doung Penh district’s Srah Chork commune in the early 2008. Chov Yang Vang, 48, and his wife Fang Thy Tou, 49, denied having committing the drug trafficking. In the case, police had detained other four suspects but set free later on, remaining the two. According to police statements, the two are really fault: Police confiscated the 1640 illegal drug pills from them.

Phnom Penh: Mrs. Carol A. Rodley, who arrived in Phnom Penh City in the early November, waits for the King’s appoint to take her position as a new US Ambassador in Cambodia. She replaces the former US Ambassador Josep Mossomeli, who finished his mandate and left Cambodia late August 2008. The US Embassy spokesmen John Johnson said on Tuesday that Mrs. Carol A. Rodley arrived Cambodia on Nov 5 morning and she would start working after the king appoints her as the new US Ambassador.

Kampongchhnang Province: After leaving monkhood for three days, a 19-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself on Nov 16 in front of a Buddhist temple of Tepnitaram pagoda, where he served three year as a monk, in Kampongchhang district’s Phsar Chhnang commune. The dead identified as Yon Chanthy, police official said. Police concluded that the man had a mental problem. While in monkhood, he had a terrible headache, making him difficult to learn Buddhist songs and before committing suicide his parents had blamed him for not inform them about his leaving monkhood.

Sihanoukville: A villager found a man corpse hanging with a tree at 4:10 p.m. on Nov 15 in Mithapheap district. The dead man known as Duch Chorm, 28, committed suicide by hanging himself after he had an argument with his wife Ieng Thach due to gambling, police said Monday. According local police the man had lost tone of money on gambling one day before he killed himself.

Pursat Province: A 12-year-old by was lost his leg in a traffic accident in the afternoon on Nov 16 in Bakan district’s Rom Lech commune, Bakan police said. The boy was sent to Pursat provincial hospital and died four hours later. The dead boy named Muth Mavy was ran into by a rice containing truck on a road in Rom Lech village. The driver Roeun Roet, 23, escaped after the traffic accident, police added.

Phnom Penh: A man committed suicide by hanging himself in his aunt’s house in Tuol Kor district’s Boeng Salang commune on Tuesday. The dead man identified as Sok Ser, 47, lived in Sangkat Meanchay, Khan Meanchay. Local police said that he hanged himself with wire string in a toilet in his room. According to the bereaved, he had the mental problem for two years and was attempted to commit suicide many times. At the night he killed himself, his disease really badgered him. His relative watched him until 2 a.m. on Nov 18, but four hours later he was found dead.

Phnom Penh: Siem (Thai) troops threatened to file a complaint with the International Court to sue Cambodia, accusing of burying new mines at the border dispute that caused two Thai troops to lose their legs while they were patrolling. However, Cambodia side denied the Thai charge. Cambodian soldier officers said that those two troops had invaded Khmer territory in the mine field where many mines were buried during the time war. Thai troops walked on mine in July.

Phnom Penh: The body of National Police Commissioner Hok Lundy was buried in his homeland, Svay Rieng province. His funeral procession left Phnom Penh City on Saturday morning and arrived in Svay Rieng province in the afternoon. Many civil servants and citizens participated in the funeral procession along with a large number of police deploying along the road. His Excellency Hok Lundy, RCAF Lieutenant General Sok Sa Em, and the two other pilots were killed in the helicopter crash on Sunday evening in Svay Rieng province due to the bad weather.

Phnom Penh: At least sixty wounded people were transmitted to the Calmette Hospital during Water Festival in Phnom Penh City. 11 injured men sent one after another on Tuesday afternoon after their car had capsized on the national route number six A in Prek An Chanh commune, Kandal province’s Muk Kampol district. The others had traffic accidents along the streets in Phnom Penh, according to a Calmette doctor.

Pursat Province: The corpses of two boys were found on Wednesday after two days of drowning. The boys, who were living in broken family, drowned while they were swimming in a river in Sampovmeas district, pursat province on Nov 10. The dead boys: Siv Tong, 15, and Korn Roeth, 14, they are great brothers. According to Sampovmeas district police, Siv Tong tried to save Korn Roeth from water. Then they drowned together. Their parents have gotten divorced and they lived with their step parents, according to their neighbors.

Phnom Penh: At least 1545 people died of traffic accidents and 7150 people were seriously injured in 2007. It is the highest number of fatal traffic accidents in Asia countries and this is double increase comparing to the last five years, according to the statement. 80 Percent of Dead Traffic Accident Victims got sincerely injured in their heads because they did not wear helmets, only three percent traveled did. That why, traffic police through out the country will find any vehicle drivers with no helmet on Jan 1.
